COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). This information will be provided to the Dean of Student Services. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Course Information
Description In-depth coverage if the theory and practice of skin care, facials, and cosmetics.
Prerequisites CSME 1310,1401,1453,2302(first semester courses) Must have a passing grade (C or better) in order to take CSME 1447,2251,2410,2401.
Learning Outcomes (PSLO #1) Shows professional and ethical behavior.
CSLO-Student will display professionalism in the treatment room. This will be measure by the acquisition of skill grades.

(PSLO #3) Demonstrates proficiency in all cosmetology skills.
CSLO-Student will demonstrate a European facial. This will be measured by rubric.
CSLO- Identify skin disorders and diseases which will be measured by Chapter 17 Unit exam and by Quizlet exam.
CSLO- Recite all layers and sub-layers of the skin which will be measured by Chapter 19 Exam.

(PSLO #1) Demonstrates appropriate workforce behaviors.
CSLO-Report correct product selection according to skin type. This will be measured by rubric.

(PSLO #4) Prepares to pass the State Board requirements.
CSLO- Detect the correct way to perform massage manipulations without
causing damage to the underlying tissue. This will be measured by rubric.

PSLO Alpha- cometology vocabulary word acquisition.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies Instructor Policy:

· I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person.

· The time clock is used for TDLR attendance verification. Each student is assigned a code to clock in; it is your responsibility to clock in and out each day. No student may clock in or out for another.

· Upon clocking in, all students must be in their assigned classroom or lab and on task at all times.

· Students must clock out for their 30 minute lunch break. Failure to clock out and in after break or lunch may result in an absence. Students not clocking out for lunch will be in violation and disciplinary action will be taken.

· Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the second week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given.

· Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading assignments. Read over chapters PRIOR to class even if reading was not assigned.

· Class participation is required. It is important to be active within the course.

· Assignments: All assignments must be submitted on the scheduled time (Online & Face to Face). Any assignments emailed after the scheduled time will receive a late penalty of -30 points.

· Assignments, Exams and due dates will be posted on Blackboard. Check your notifications, announcements

and email daily.

· Please contact your instructor if you are having problems with the class, material, or internet.

· Exams: Make-up exams will NOT be given. All exams must be taken on the day that it is assigned and within the time frame listed. Please see your instructor before the scheduled exam if there is a problem.

·

· Students are responsible for all materials covered in class. If you quit coming to class and do not officially withdraw, your grades will be averaged, and you will receive the grade represented by this average. Administrative details are your responsibility.

Attendance Policy Attendance will be taken daily Mon-Fri. If you are absent from Blackboard on Monday the absence will be recorded under Your Haircolor course.Tuesday face to face absence will count in Skin Care course. Wednesday blackboard absence will count in Hair Cutting course. Thursday face to face absence will count in State Board Prep course and Friday blackboard absence will count in all 4 courses.


Attendance Policy

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.

Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily.

Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face)

Class Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 (Please arrive 15 minutes early to be screened before clocking in; Washing/Sanitizing Hands, Temperature Checked Daily, and submit Screening Form)

Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30 or 11:30 – 12:00

Afternoon Break: 1:30 – 1:45 Lab/Face to Face Time: 2 days a week for a total of 12 hours. Online Theory / Lab: At least 22 hours a week. (Theory, Assignments, Video Lectures, Hands on Related Videos) Total hours for the week: 34 hours

· Consult with your instructor in advance if you know you will be absent, any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams (Video Discussions), Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) mandates documentation is available for the State Inspector showing attendance, theory and practical skills for online and face to face.

· Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations mandates the completion and passing of all the registered modules (courses) to be eligible to take the state board exam.

· Lamar State College-Port Arthur mandates the completion and passing of all cosmetology classes with a “C” or better to attain the knowledge and skills needed to pass your State board exam.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies
  1. No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.

  2. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.

  3. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.

Other Theory will be conducted online through Banner on Monday, Wednesday from 9-10:30. Lab will be conducted on Tuesday and Thursday each week from 9-3:30.
